Shower runs while tub spout in use
If you turn on the shower both spout and shower head runs and the diverter is not engaged how do you fix that problem?

I'm having the same problem. You have to replace the diverter. If it's a single handle faucet, you can check with your local home improvement store to see if they carry a replcement part. Just be sure to tell them the manufacturer so you get the right part. Mine is a Delta, and thankfully they had it in stock. I think the replacement process is pretty straight forward, just make sure you turn off the main water.

Where's your diverter located? In the spout or the valve? Regards, tom

Single handle or two handle, and what brand faucet? If your diverter is located in the spout,( and your faucet is single handle) you most likely need to replace the spout. This is the best place to start. If this doesn't fix your problem you may have buildup or a piece of particle blocking the valve body at the spout supply port. Do you know what type of pipe you have? If there is a galvanized nipple stubbed out for the spout , it may be plugged.

I would be very interested in other possible solutions to this problem. Got 0ne right now that I have checked all of these things on(single handle moen pull type cartridge faucet) and still having this problem. Temporarily put a ball valve between shower head and head arm. Homeowner plans on tearing out and remodeling whole bathroom next spring and didn't want to replace faucet at this time. This was the best I could do without replacing the valve body. Any suggestions? I've tried everything I can think of. Hope you guys have some new ones.
