2002 Ecotec engine with a broken timing chain
Is my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cylinder, 2.2 liter "Ecotec" engine interfering or non-interfering in the case where my timing chain has broken?

    Thank you for your help.

Has someone actually pulled the front cover and checked the chain? While it's not impossible, it's highly unlikely that the chain would break after only 6 years. What problem(s) are you having with the vehicle right now?

Thank you 8384 for your concern.

Yes I have the cover off and the mechanic didn't think it was possible either.
However it is most certainly broken, leaving my wife stranded while leaving the local shopping center just stopping in its tracks as it wouldn't turnover after that.

?? My '72 Bonneville has begun to diesel when accelerating. It began just when really pressing hard, but now does it on slow starts from a stop sign. I've put high octane in it, to no avail. It currently has 122K; does it sound like the timing chain's slipped?
