The county board of health and the local psychiatric unit at the hospital will have information dealing with low income psych care.

More and more Dr's are accepting patients with low or almost no income, all it takes is a little looking, they are out there.

Is there a college in your area that has a psych department? Many of these are free and the students are doing their clinicals and monitored by licensed doctors.

    Hi, frincon!

There might be a clinic near you that offers services on a sliding fee scale. Depending on your financial situation, you might have to pay only very little or maybe even nothing at all.

You could search for such a place by clicking on the following searches that I've already done for you. You could also try putting in additional or even other search terms to narrow down specifically as to what it is that you're trying to find.

Here's something else to consider. Are you sure that you need a psychiatrist? Is there the possibility that you might just need to share some things with a person or persons who could give you helpful feedback and coping strategies?

If that might be the case, then I would hope that you would consider starting a new thread on this site with a question about what troubles you.

There are some really great and knowledgeable people who are members that have already gone through a tremendous amount of troubles in their lives. Some of the feedback that they will give to you might be just the thing that you need! Also, it's all free! :)

    Thanks!
