I'm not a doctor but my mother used to take a product called "Immunical" when she was alive, to boost her immune system. Immunical has glutathione in it. I continued to hound my Mom about just taking the active ingredient in Immunical but my Mom was stuck on brand name. AFter months of paying $65 every 5 days for this stuff, she finally gave in.

My Mom had terminal cancer in various places: stomach, lungs, liver, kidneys, ovaries, uterus. The stomach and lung cancer gave her a very bad type of acid reflux and literally nonstop coughing... you couldn't talk to her because she coughed so much.

Well, after taking the glutathione directly (pill form) My Mother said that it worked better than the Immunical. It began working so well that the hospice people were wondering what we were giving her because they were telling us for weeks that she was going to pass and she just kept on going. She followed the dosage and took 3 pills 3 times per day. This stuff began working so well that my Mom's didn't even have to take it every day. It was remarkable how this stuff boosted the immune system of a Stage IV terminal cancer patient given less than 6 months to love... she lived about a year and a half and would have lasted longer except she was tired of existing in the same state so she just stopped taking everything. The immunical didn't cure her but clearly did eleviate many of the side effects of the cancer. I do sometimes wonder...

Not to tell you a bad story but just wanted you know that this stuff worked great for my Mom. Plus, I paid less than $50 including shipping and handling for 3 months worth of the immunical... 500mg bottle.

Articles I have read say that taking amino acids alone really don't work well as they need to be taken in the branched chain form in which they work synergistically with one another. My Mom's situation makes me wonder about that.

Be careful and consult either a doctor or a holistic medical doctor. I like to get the opinion of them both.

    Good luck.

There is no problem taking glutathione, however, it won't do you much good to take it. Why? You might ask. Isn't glutathione known to be a powerful antioxidant? Answer: YES... BUT only glutathione that is manufactured WITHIN your body cells is effective. That requires precursors i.e.. Components of essential amino acids (mainly cysteine) that the body cells put together to manufacture glutathione (also referred to as GSH). The best source of these is whey protein or in the purest form whey protein isolate. You CANNOT digest glutathione from capsules, etc in your stomach. The acid rich environment prevents absorption from the gut much the same as Vitamin B-12 tablets are not absorbed (now you know why its best given as an injection!) Do your research and see if my information is not correct. I have spent a long academic life in the pharmaceutical arena which included biochemical and biosynthetic pathways.

Additional information can be gleaned from this medical article abstract if you are more inclined to research.
