I am unhappy with my sponsor and want to leave. I have a e3 visa and may or not be transferring to another employer but what do I/my current sponsor need to do to terminate this visa? Can I just go home if I don't get another employer or do I need to hand in documentation?

You must submit letter of resignation to your employer, and after that you must leave US within 10 days. The employer has obligation to notify USCIS that your contract has been terminated.

Be careful, all employment visas do not have long grace period like student visas, if you want to change your status to other non-immigrant visa, you need to file 90 days in advance.

There is no form, simply send a letter notifying them that the contract has been terminated since the date...

I have been trying to find an address of where to send this letter of termination, it would be to USCIS I assume, can you tell me an exact department and address and any information about the process like having to wait for a receipt, or how I know the information has been accepted.

The employer must notify USCIS in writing within 10 days of termination. All you have to do is keep record of resignation/termination for your file and leave US within 10 days.
