    Curious about saving a tree.
    I'm hearing on my local news that a city had to cut down an 82 year old Brazilian Beauty tree in a public park, because it was damaged ten years ago by a car crashing into it, and it wasn't treated properly then and it is diseased now. Today they cut it completely down except for the trunk, which they intend to dig up at a later date. My question is; if they can inspect the trunk, and find it disease free, why not let it stay and allow the tree to re-grow? Or is it too much on the tree and the trunk will never grow back? I'm not much of a green thumb so I leave it to you. But if it is salvagable, I'll call the city and the news channel and see if I can get the tree trunk saved.

    Some species of trees don't just regrow from stumps. If they thought the tree could regrow from the stump I am sure they would have thought to leave the stump. Now had this been any sort of ficus tree - they can grow back from practically nothing.
