i have abnormal cervical cells
Okay so I posted the other day about randomly bleeding after intercourse.. I went to the doctor and I'm too impatient to wait for the results and was wondering if any of you had ideas :p
so she did a colposcopy or something like that.. looked at my cervix under a microscope... used vinegar to bring out any abnormal cells there might be.. and there was some! :(. She then used iodine for some reason... and said every time she touched the abnormal cells they would bleed worse and worse.. so she took a biopsy of my cervix (OUCH) and said they would call Wednesday with the results. It can't be an std.. I just had a normal pap 5 months ago and everything was fine.. no new partners. For either of us.
so I'm impatient to say in the least and very worried. I know it could be a broad range of things but I want ideas of what it could be! Thank you!

Again, so sorry it took so long to get back to you, I have put in 26 hours at work in 2 days, and another 10 hours community service in the past 2 days... 36 hours in a 48 hour period.
Now, this could be something as simple as an infection or a virus of some sort.
I am curious why you are having another exam within 5 months, usually the exams are a year apart.
Do you have a history of any kind of cancer in your family?

I had this happen several years ago. However, it was a routine pap smear that revealed abnormalities in my cervical cells. My doctor did a procedure called cryogenics, where the surface of the cervix was frozen off. The frozen tissue would sluff off over the next few days and then another biopsy was performed on the "new" surface.
Like you, I was very distressed about the possibilities. When I started talking to friends about what was going on, a few of them said they had gone through this themselves.
Try to keep yourself busy while you're waiting for results. No one can know until you have more information. I know this is hard but sometimes too much information can add too much stress!

I do remember now. Thank you for reminding me. After working so much lately, I don't always seem to have my wits about me, especially when I am so tired.
Please keep me posted as to what the results are.
