    Depo Shot and Pregnancy
I have been on the shot for about two years. My last shot was sometime in July. I decided to come off it because I have been hearing terrible things about this drug. I was suppose to get my next shot in late September and never went. Its now October 20 and I just started bleeding but I don't think it's a normal period. I read up on it and people are saying it can take up to 6 months or more to leave your system. I desperately want to get pregnant before 2010. Is that going to be possible if I have been on the depo shot for two years? Also does anyone know how to get depovera out of your system quicker? Any input would help.

It is going to vary from person to person. Some women will find they become pregnant within a few months after their last injection... some find it takes over a year regardless of how long they were on depo.

Certainly there are no guarantees, but chances are you will be pregnant before 2010... most likely, unless you were to have an underlying fertility concern, you will be pregnant sometime in 2009 simply due to the odds. Would be a good idea to have a preconception visit with your doctor or midwife to discuss ways for you to determine when you are most likely fertile and how best to prepare for conception and pregnancy, such as starting on folic acid while trying.

Hope it happens for you sooner than later!
