Taking the pill to miss your period
I finished my 21 pill pack of femodene on Friday but just found out that my boyfriend was flying in on Thursday and I don't want tohave my period when I see him. My period hasn't started yet, but it always starts on the Tuesday after the Friday when I took my last pill, so I am not worried at all. Perhaps stupidly, I started a new pack today in the hope that I wouldn't get my period.

Seeing as you are supposed to be protected whilst you are on your period and not taking the pill for those seven days anyway, would I still have to use other protection?

Also, is this really bad for me and should I take two pills today instead of just the one I already took?

    Thanks

Ideally, you would not need protection because those 7 days would be your period, or close to it. However, since I became pregnant on birth control pills, I can say that you should use a back up method to be safe.

Read your information packet that came with the pills. If you do not have it, talk to your Pharmacist or Doctor to be sure. Even with birth control, its not always advisable to take more than one, especially in the beginning of the pill pack - it could cause side effects.

If I were you I would not take more than one pill a day. When I was on the pill my doc told me that I could miss my period by skipping the placebos and starting a brand new pack, I did it a couple times with no side effects, everyone is different though, and if you are worried just call your doctors office.
