    Rent and utilities I paid for my grandmother
    Can I use the payments I made for the rent and utilities of my grandmother's apartment as part of my deductible expense?

    You can claim your grandmother as dependent if you paid more than half of her expenses for the year and she did not earn more than $3500 in 2008.
