Will my kitten recover from a stroke?
Hello. I took my kitten in last Friday to get declawed and I got a phone call the next day saying that he might have had a stroke in the middle of the night. The first day he couldn't eat or use the litterbox. He is still at the vets with an IV and he has gotten a little better. He can eat on his own and use the litterbox but his balance is still way off. He can't keep his head still and he seems to be really out of it. He also has trouble walking and will fall down. Does anyone know if he will get better over time? My vet wants to keep him there but I think maybe he will be better with me at home... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to do what the vet suggests. He has the degree not you..

Just relax and trust that the doctors are going to do what's best for him.. hopefully he will get better.. I'm sorry for your stress

The fact that he's eating on his own and using the box are both good signs. I had a young one who recovered but always had some balance problems. She learned how to deal with it, often walked along the walls. She was strictly an indoor cat. I would leave yours at the vet as long as you see improvement. Then I would bring him home. I always have a problem with leaving an animal at the vets over the weekend when no one is there. There is nothing like being at home with those who love you. Lots of luck and prayers.

H can someone tell me how long it takes for a dog to recover from a stroke, he has use of his limbs, he has lost his bark and picks at his food. The only sign of a stroke was unusual behavior and walking funny. He has been put on half an asprin by the vet and another tablet twice a day.

My cat is rather young, about 1 1/2 years old. He is an outdoor cat. I would rather not have him outside, but he insisted. Lol. Anyway, he has come into contact with many things that have caused me concern and I have taken him to the vet. I think my vet feels like I am an over protective parent....
