What can we do that's new!
Me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year and a half to the day... I want to do something new and fun for him any ideas? We always go out to dinner... movies are kind of boring (after a year and a half watching them together :p)... putt putting is boring too ha. He's 24, I'm 19. We are both in school/work full time so we can't go anywhere far. I know sitting at home is good but I want to do something exciting for him. Last month I took him to a shooting range because he LOVES guns but he's never shot one before and let him pick out guns to shoot with me... a 22 calliber and 9 mm.. we had SO much fun he loved it. Now I'm trying to think of something else, any ideas? :) :)

    Hi dear.
Well, I guess if he enjoyed shooting, how about going to a paint-ball shootout, that might be fun.
You can also ask him if there is something that he might like to try out, even though it seems boring to you, for him, you can go along with it for a while.
How about going to dancing class together?
It depends on what other interests in life he has.. and what your interests are.
So, as I've stated before, it will take some talking and testing. Just because you belong to the younger generation' it does not mean that you cannot learn 'old' things together like cooking, painting, other hobbies - just talk to him about it and it does not need to cost much.
How about a weekend camping trip somewhere, or wine-tasting or to an amusement park?
Anything is worth a try if you are bored at home.

    Have a good weekend!

    Three kinds of marriage/dating fun

You should have 3 kinds of "fun".
    1. Stuff that is on your "whenever" list, like:
      • Movies
      • Working out together
      • Dinner
      • Cleaning the attic/garage
      • Hiking
      • Boating, kayaking, canoeing
      • Beach Day
      • Park Day
      • Aimless hanging out
    2. Stuff that happens less frequently, but with some regularity, like:
      • Season passes to the local Broadway plays or Community College productions
      • Season tickets to baseball/basketball Minor Leagues, etc.
      • Spring cleaning, Fall organizing, painting, yardwork
(Keep your eyes open for the "joiner" options in your area.)
      • Learn to do something together, like:
        • judo
        • karate
        • tae kwon do
        • ballroom dancing (if you really want to laugh together)
    3. Stuff that are PLANNED big events, stuff you have to organize, save for, and most of all look forward to. I've taken the wife on planned:
      • Rafting adventures
      • Camping
      • Long-distance hikes in gorgeous National Parks
      • Once-a-year cool things like Tripoli Rocket launches (private individual/groups who build big rockets and launch them together) Tripoli Rocket Info
      • County Fairs (be sure to go through all the animal and art exhibits, great stuff!)
      • Amtrak destination trips (railed to San Francisco once...awesome)
      • Couple's Retreats
      • a 3-5 day cruise, etc.
      • Rent a cool-car and just drive the coast together

The point here is to not only have random days to fill with fun together, but have regular monthly things you do as well as big things you're working toward.

Even a marriage needs this level of thought put in to last 60 years. Can you add ideas to that list?
