Probability of 3/5 racers having the same time
    Hello,

I play a game called Burnout3, it's a racing game for the Xbox. We had a match where 3 of the 5 racers in the room all had the same last 2 digits of their time be the same.

    The final times were

    Player 1 03.42.88
    Player 2 03:21.72
    Player 3 03:46:88
    Player 4 03:33:88
    Player 5 03:37:57

What are the odds of the last 2 digits of 3 players being the same?

Perhaps very low, but it is possible.

The probability that the last two digits match for 3 of the 5 times is:

    (1/100)^2*99/100*98/100*10 = .00097, or slightly less than 1 in a 1000.
