    Table saw safety issue
    Hi,
I have just purchased a clark table saw with a maximum cut depth of 55mm. I have 20 or so fence posts which I want to cut from 6 to 3ft. The posts are 75mm thick and I was wondering if I could push them through the saw and then turn them over to cut the remaining 20mm. I have only cut thinner wood than the max cut depth and do not know if I could get away with this or not. Anyone out there advise. It might sound a silly question to someone in the know but I thought it best to play safe rather than find out the hard way!
    Thanks

It should work just fine with no issues. I have done similar with a circular saw. Had to cut full depth on each side to cut in half. Worked fine.

A safe way to do this is to make a slide with a guide on the bottom that will run in the miter gauge slot, the slide would have to be less than 20 mm thick. This way you could even put a stop block on the slide that is 3 ft. from the blade, that way there would be no problem of making the cut on both sides in the exasct spot.

If you don't understand what I am talking about when I say a slide then let me know and I will explain more.
