    Garnishment of wages in Georgia?
    I have a apartment lease in Georgia, my lease is up Nov 1,2008. I have paid Octobers rent
    Went to leave notice to vacate Nov 1st was told I did'nt give sufficiat number of days to vacate and my wages would be garnished for the entire month of Nov Rent,is this legal? Thank you catherine

    Yes. If the lease required 30 days notice to vacate and you did not give 30 days notice, then you would be liable for November's rent.

    However, before they could garnish your wages, they would have to take you to court and obtain a judgement against you. In all lilelihood they would win.

    On the other hand, if you had given a security deposit, that amount could be applied towards the rental owed.
