Providers told we cannot chart from home. Have been doing so for months. Signed agreement of HIPPA. Now being told we violated hippa though clinic installed the program on our home computers. We are told we will be disciplined after the fact rule change not retroactive.

Medical providers do not have access to mental health notes but mental health can read medical notes. Electronic charting. Cannot know when mental health has changed a prescription. Mental health patients often come to medical for refills. They usually do not know their meds. Mental health patients often come to medical for follow up.

Told we cannot give information to medics when they come to transport patient to ER. Told patient must sign a release and a medical records person must come up and copy the notes.

Told we cannot dictate notes in our common desk area (locked/secured) because we can hear what the other provider is saying about a patient.

Told we cannot say a patient name in our locked/secured/private office.

Told we cannot say a patient name in a private staff meeting.

Told we will be terminated if any of the above occur

So am I, spyderglass! All three threads started by yekkoshanko seem to be a continuation of the same subject.

    Hi, yekkoshanko!

Would what I said above be correct? If so, then please do try to keep all information about one subject on the same thread.

    Thanks!

Administration said HIPPA forbids giving the medics patient information. We call 911 because maybe the patient is having a heart attack and we are supposed to have the patient sign a release of information so we can talk to the medics giving for example vital signs. Then someone from medical records is supposed to come upstairs and copy the release and copy any needed chart notes.

I do not think giving the medics information is a violation of HIPPA.

We all sit together in one locked big office and have been told by same admin that we cannot discuss patients. Say the psychiatrist cannot ask a question of the patient's primary care provider.

By the way, the same admin allows patients to wander around the clinic asking what doctor someone is seeing and when is that person going to e done with his visit
