The battery is good. I turn the key and nothing happens. What should I check first?

    I checked the fuse, OK.

I connected the terminals on the solenoid and just heard a clund.

I connected the starter directly to the battery and still just heard a clunk.

I took the starter out and hooked it to the battery free standing and it spun but made a sound like a bearing going dry and then stopped so I guess the starter is shot.

Doesn't sound good, worst case, you know you will have a good starter. Good Luck.

Murray Riding Mower won't start [ 2 Answers ]

I have a Murray 18hp Briggs & Stratton Riding Mower that won't start. The battery is good and the mower will crank without the (new) spark plug in, but seems weak. I thought maybe the battery needed a charge so I used a charger in the "start" mode and it still does the same thing. The relay...
