You will of course have a variety of answers due to personal experiences. What is one person's pro, may not be for someone else... the same thing for cons.

So... possible con with a natural birth would be that you feel more of it and not everyone wants to go through that experience... however, this can also be a pro for some women as they want that experience. With medicated births you usually feel less pain (a pro), but you will have more potential risks involved (a con). C-sections can be true lifesavers when needed (pro), but they will also involve the possible risks of surgery since it is major abdominal surgery (con). They can also cause increased risks to future pregnancies (con).

Postpartum wise... natural births can allow baby to breastfeed more easily... sometimes a medicated birth can cause baby to take a bit longer to get going depending on whether there was any effect on baby (most likely to occur if medications are given close to the time of birth) After a c-section, there can be more discomfort and depending on how the mother is recovering, it can play a role in getting breastfeeding started. Some women breeze through birth quite easily... others have a more difficult time for a variety of reasons.

These are just a few... so you can see how it will vary from person to person as to what they want from their birth experience, what may become necessary whether they have a choice or not, what their pain tolerance level is, what their support during birth and postpartum is like, how prepared they are, how different interventions may effect them, etc..

The nice thing is that women usually have choices... there is no right or wrong way to give birth, only what is "right" or "wrong" for that individual and their particular situation.

I had both my kids naturally. Yup, it hurt, a lot, really, really painful. I wouldn't have done it any other way.

For me the natural route was the best option, I didn't want to be on an IV, I didn't want to be bed ridden after the birth of my child.

I'm not saying that an epidural or other drugs is a bad choice, it just wasn't the right choice for me.

    Hope this helps. :)
