Should I be responsible to this incident?
I got a newpaper delivery job on early morning! 2 Weeks ago, I drive along with a main st to delivery the next drop, it was dark on early morning. To avoid miss the st I want to go, I planned to pull over the road to see the st name clearly. I gave the right side signal, and try to pull over. At that time, I heard some body push horn on me, so I gave up the idea, drive on. After that, I heard the suddenly brake sound, and seemed something fell down. I stopped my car, and stepped out to look what happened. A gentleman fell down behind me around 20 meters away. I went to help him to pull up his motorcycle and ask him OK or not. The guy no any hurt, but his motocycle get scratch damage with the ground on the right side, and right mirror broken. I got this situation at the first time. So I made apology to him ( I think my signal and intention to pull over affect him), This guy asked all mine info, due to need to deliver the rest papers, so I gave the info to him, then left. When I went back home, I report the incident to my insurance company, also stated that I didn't have any contact between my car and the guy's motocycle. He fell down just because he brake suddenly and lost control, I think at that time he was a little overspeed and follow me to close. The claim dept staff told me don't worry, he said I don't need take responsble for the damage. After that, the guy claimed his damage, and I got a letter from Ajuster, I called back to ask what's going on, the ajuster said I should be responsible for that. His lose control just because I want to pull over.
So who can give me professional suggestion? I asked some friend who worked as insurance agency, they all told me I 'm free of responsbilities for that. But now adjuster told me total difference result. I don\t know what I can do. Maybe I didn't explain it clearly to adjuster due to my poor English. But I really can't accept this result, if that guy had hit me that day, is that means he should have take all fault ( he was behind me).

    Appreciated any advice in advanc.
Also please give me some suggestion what I can do if I can't take the result( that result maybe let me pay the fix expense and make my insurance raise higher)

    Thanks again

I can not answer your question due to you being in toronto Ontario. I am an Agent in Ohio. It depends on the driving laws and also the insurance law of your state/ country. Because of you first starting to pull over than not he may not have had time to avoid hiting you and ended up falling because of that. So you changing you mind may have been the cause of the accident. The insurance adjuster is the best one who can answer that question since they deal with the law and rule of the insurance company..
