    Low water pressure on residential well system
    Hello,

    I have a residential well system and recently have some very poor water pressure.

    Here's the strange part(s):

    From my well I have a direct line that goes to a hydrant out at our barn. It has terrific pressure coming out of it. It is only the faucets, showers, etc. in the house that are affected.

    I double checked the pressure in my tank and it seems appropriate. I tried adjusting the pressure switch up so that it now kicks on at 46psi and off at 65psi (with the pressure tank set at 44psi when all water is drained).

    The pump cycles on and off correctly at those pressures. However, when I let the system sit I get great pressure for about 5 seconds then it drops to just a trickle.

    Even when the pump turns on the pressure doesn't recover much (again only in the house).

    I'm stumped.

    Thanks in advance for the help.

    Good description of the problem.

    The well, pump, and outside piping are fine.

    Youy're describing a partial blockage somewhere between the pressure tank and the rest of the house. Is it hot, cold or both where you have the problem?

    Easy stuff first:
    a) are all the valves fully open between the pump and household pipes. Physically check each of them
    b) Any water filters? Perhaps they need replacing

    I do have a water filter between the main valve and the rest of the house. I will try pulling the filter itself out of the canister. Perhaps there is a clog.
