    what do i do?
my girlfriend of almost 2 years broke up with me, she told me she has been unhappy for a couple of months and she wanted to break up.She was afraid to break up with me because she really values our friendship and wants us to be close friends and still come to me when she has problems. She wanted me to promise her I wouldn't feel weird around but I told her I couldn't promise that and then she started to cry and we got off the phone.Does she really want us to be friends or is she just saying that so she wouldn't feel as bad?

She wants the best of all worlds, without really caring what you need or want. Worry about getting over it and how that is easiest for you

I'd have to agree. I think she doesn't want to be with you in a relationship but she's so used to having you there that she doesn't want to lose you as a friend. If it's going to hurt you to be around her then I would just tell her that you would like to be her friend but it isn't possible for you right now. And then focus on doing things that make you happy

She doesn't want to be with you, but she wants you to help her with her problems? That is a very selfish attitude.

Move forward. Do not hang out or talk on the phone until you are sure you are over her. This is the only way for you to heal.

I agree with the above, but I also think that she wants you there just in case someone breaks her heart you'll be there to take her back. At least that's what she thinks. You should keep a friendship but don't waste your time on it. Start doing your on thing and forget about her. Someone who breaks up a long relationship like that doesn't deserve you or your time. Good Luck!

Does she really want us to be friends
    She sure does!
or is she just saying that so she wouldn't feel as bad?
She will still have you in her life, available whenever she wants you, and free to follow any other interest she feels like. She has the best of both worlds, so what would she have to feel bad about.

Your the one who will be feeling bad.
