    How can I illustrate why salt dissolves in water using the chemical structure of salt and water to explain the answer

    You have to show the ionic structure of saly, that is, sodium chloride. You know that the sodium ion is positive and that the chloride ion is negative? Ok, the water molecules have a little 'polarity' at its ends due to its shape. The two hydrogen atoms in the molecules in a way fall on one side of the molecule, and create a 'positive pole' which will surround the negative ion, and detaches it. Then think of the other side, it's nearly the same. Post back if you need more help!
