I recently moved into a house with my two roomies. My father gave me a Hunter ceiling fan as one of my parting gifts, considering that the fan previous was piece of crap. The other day my one roommate and I attempted to put the fan up and were successful. However, it does not work.

The wiring from the ceiling went as follows:
RED, WHITE, BARE, AND RED

The wiring from the fan are as follows:
GREEN, WHITE, BLACK (possibly another color?)

My roommate, once being a construction worker, attached the wires with the corresponding colors, minus the red since I didn't want to use the light kit. When we turned the breaker back on for my room, nothing worked. At first we thought it was just the dead battery that was in the ceiling fan's remote control. Yet, we found out today after buying a new battery, that wasn't the case.

We're kind of stumped as to what's going on with the fan and I'm quite upset not having air circulation through my room. If someone could possibly help, that would be wonderful and I'll be very grateful.

Is there a wall switch for the fan?

Are you sure about the colors of the ceiling wires being Red White Bare and Red?

I would expect the one of those Red Wires to be black. But it does not have to be. Red is a color used to designate a Hot wire.

If you have a volt meter or a voltage tester, please verify which Red/White connection shows voltage.

Once you do that, then connect the live Red to the Black, White to White Bare to green and cap off the second red wire. DO NOT leave the wire uncapped.

If neither red wire is Hot, check your main panel to make sure the circuit breaker is on.

Try using the red wire from the ceiling I bet it is switched and the black might be capped in the switch

Did you try the red? If it didn't work, do you have a voltmeter?
