Am I eligible for the rental decrease after lease has been signed?
We renewed our lease back in August. September 1st the apartment complex we lived in lowered the rental rate by $100.00. Am I eligalbe to have my rent lowered too even after we already signed?

No. You have signed a contract to pay X months for $X a month.

If this happened the other way around - the rent was raised on the other units - it would not change your rent.

I agree with Judy that you they do not HAVE to lower your rent. But I would certainly go talk to them about it. If it was $20, or something I'd say not worth it. But for $100 a month (if you know for SURE that all new units just like yours are being leased for $100 less per month), I'd go talk to them.

You might offer to sign a longer lease in exchange for them lowering the rent. Or just let them know that it feels like you're being taken advantage of and you definitely won't be renewing when your lease some up.

Some landlord's are really concerned with tenant retention, and some not.

They do not have to do a new lease for you, but they may, all you have to do is ask. If they don't, you are locked into the current lease
