    Having a J1 visa
I would like to seek some helpful information regarding my status as of now.

I was given an J1 visa that will expire this year (December 2008) based on my I-94.

I was connected to my sponsor to work under the training category, but since I resigned for
Some reasons, I got a job from other company since I have a SSN. I only work for about 7 months to my sponsor and since I have still 5months I don't want to go that is why I applied for another job.

My question is.. Do I have a right to work and stay here legally in the US since my visa and my I-94 will expire this coming December?

Please I need an answer since I am afraid of what other people say.

    Thank you so much

Am having a trainee visa... under the category of culinary management.

I will highly appreciate of your immediate response

Having unexpired I-94 does not mean you can stay legally... your status is terminated on date of resignation. In this case, if you resign from the company that sponsor your visa, you are out of status and you have 30 days to pack and return home. You cannot work for a new company on the existing visa.
