    H1B extension received for only 9 months
    Hi

    I have a H1B visa which I sent for extension in Apr,08.
    My Visa Expiry was July 9,2008.
    I got my extension approval mail on 16 Aug and my extension papers were processed and sent to me.

    But to my surprise the extension was starting only from Aug 15,2008 to May 29,2009.:confused:

    So here are my doubts:

    a) The time for which my Visa was expired (July 10,2008 to Aug 14,2008), and I was waiting for approval, will this time be considered as Out of status?( As I received my extension from Aug 15th and not from the next day of my Visa Expiry, July 11th).

    b) Is it normal to get the approval for such a small period?

    c) Is it possible that if I file my extension again, I will get an approval for 9 months again or can get 3 years extension?

    d) Last thing is
    If I go out of US before May,2009 and do not return until my Visa expires, Can I apply for H1B again and will this come under H1B cap or not applied to H1B Cap?

    Please answer to the above doubts of mine.

    Don't waste your time with doubts... discuss this issue with the employer's attorney asap...
    This is not good for you in the long run.
