Fatigue and inflammed tonsils for 5 weeks
For the last 2-3 months I have been feeling very tired and run-down, waking up early morning(which is not like me!) and not feeling refreshed- feeling that I have only been having a light sleep not a good deep sleep.

Over a month ago I started with a bad sore throat, swollen left tonsil with yellow discharge/spots on it. It seemed to be clearing up after a week. A few days later my throat/tonsil swelled up so much it was agony and could hardly eat or talk for a week.
GP prescribed penicillin which I took the course of (7 days) and I had some blood tests for glandular fever which were negative. (no swabs done) I got a second opininon later that week at my local minor injuries and was told it would just clear up and was probably viral.

3 weeks on, although my throat is a lot better than it was I still have a dry sore throat, worse in the morning and when I talk. My left tonsil is still red with a few small white spots on. I am still really tired/run down and everyone comments on how pale and rough I look.

    Any advice/ideas?
    Thanks

Have you been back to the doctor recently? For something to hang on for 2-3 months, that's not good.

I'm in NO WAY a medical anything, but to me, that sounds like you need to see a doctor. Working at a college, we see a lot of this type of thing, generally they assume that it is mono - but we send them all to the doc. Are you in college? Do you have a stressful job? Have you been around people that are sick?

Take care of yourself - its time to head back to the doc.

My tonsils: a perculiar observation! [ 2 Answers ]

This is going to sound very odd but my tonsils have lumps/bumps and even holes in them. (I guess that's not too weird and wonderful as docotrs have seen them and don't seem worried) However they produce a white solid from the holes. It's about the consistancy of a small chewed piece of bread...
