    Grieving dog not eating
We had two dogs (wire hair fox terr') we have had them since they were pups, they are 7 years old and are brother and sister.
Recently we lost the female . Not only are we grieving her loss but so is her brother. He does not want to eat. We have to coax him at every meal. We have tried different foods as well to tempt him. We are sometimes able to get him to eat by taking him on a car ride.
Is there any thing else we can try? We are worried about him and don't want him to get ill. We understand that he may depressed and want to help him through this. Any advice would be welcome.

I'm very sorry for your loss. How long has your dog been avoiding meals? I don't have experience with this personally, but I have heard a dog expert talk about these kinds of situations. Just like people can stop eating when they're in mourning, many dogs express some of their feelings through loss of appetite. Keep encouraging him to eat in any way you can. With a little time, this is a problem that should usually resolve itself within a couple of weeks. If the situation is extreme, meaning he will not eat anything for an extended period, your vet will be able to help (even giving an IV if necessary). Is he drinking normally?
