New Kohler shower valve. Only hot water comes out.
 I have a new single handle Kohler shower valve but only hot water comes out. I have gone as far as pulling the shower valve out but I see no adjustments. What could be wrong?

With the mixing valve removed from the valve body, cover it with a tightly held towel. Have some briefly turn on your main supply, do both hot and cold supply pipe put out water?

I am having the same issue as TimothyK, though I'm installing a Delta it's the cold water that is working and the hot is only coming out in a trickle. I have disconnected the hot line to make sure there was full pressure coming to the valve body and there is. So would the culprit be a clog in the valve body? Is this easy to disassemble and clear out?

p.s. ballengerb, it's great to see someone from Wheaton. I was born, raised and lived in Glen Ellyn until I went to college. My parents still live there and love it. Wheaton is a great town.

Hey Murph we might kill two birds with one stone. You and Tim are on the same path, just different temps. Once you confirm cold, hot in your case, reaches the mixing valve then it's a clogged valve/cartridge. Most are cartrdiges now adays so shut down your main and open the valve to blow pressure, remove handle, remove escutcheon plate, remove locking pin or screw and pull the cartridge. Clogs are usually right by the inlet port. Murph, you clog is likely white abd crumbly.
