A Girl I met at a Public Pool
Hi, my name is Justin. I'm 20 years old and I've never had a girlfriend. Something happened to me at a public pool about a month ago that I feel I should talk about with someone. I was laying out on my towel reading a book and when two girls lay down behind me. One of the girls smiled at me and I thought she was really pretty. A boy was talking with her, so I was afraid to interrupt. When the boy left, however, she lay out on her towel on her stomach with her feet facing me. I turned over on my stomach the opposite way and our feet touched. We looked at each other and smiled, she said sorry and I said it's OK. A few minutes later our feet touched again, but this time neither of us moved away. While making eye contact with her, I rubbed my bare foot on top of her bare feet and she rubbed her other foot on top which kind of sanwiched our feet together. We continued to rub feet while the other girl sort of watched and smiled. The boy came back over and when he saw what we were doing, he look disappointed. He left much quicker than the first time. Afterwards, I gave her my phone number and she she'd call me next time she goes to the pool. As good as it felt, I felt bad about it because I think the other boy liked her too and I kind of stole his spot. It seemed like she knew him well, but she didn't know me at all. Why would she do that with me and not him? And was it wrong of what we did?

If it was wrong or not, would depend on the age that she is. Do you know if she's over the age of 18?

Finding and subsequently dating those who are like yourself can be kind of competitive. I admire you for having some feelings for the "other guy". However, you were in the right place at the right time.

You've already received some very positive "vibes" from her. So, if the ages are okay, I would say go for it!

If things don't work out, then you can consider this to be a "practice session". I have done this sort of thing many times...

There "are many fish in the sea". It's the same way with people. Much "fishing" might need to be done, until you find the right "catch" for you!

    I do wish you well!

Yes, the girl was a college student at Penn State. It's just that when I told my friend about it, he said I got lucky because I could have went to jail for it. So I guess it leaves me to question if what I did was good.

Um, most states have abolished the jail penalties for playing footsies, so I think you're safe there.

Flirting is fine. The other boy is responsible for the effectiveness of his own flirting.

If you're 20 and she's a college student, I doubt there are any legalities you need to concern yourself with... unless there's missing info here you would care to add.

So, enjoy. That sounded like an awesome fun way to meet a girl. Call her, invite her to play footsie with you at dinner somewhere... she should laugh at that. And socks would be a great first gift in this situation...

Nothing wrong with friendly flirting in public among strangers. Don't feel bad for the other guy either.

The real problem would be you thinking too much into your playing footsie with a stranger.
