My employee (and human) rights abused
Ok so I live in VA and my boss at this store I worked at denied me health benefits that I was qualified for and I signed up for during open enrollment. When I asked about it he made a racial comment towards me. He also encouraged other employees to racially harass me. He's also threatened to beat me up on camera. I've also been attacked by a co-worker ON CAMERA! I did not fight back and nothing was done. I've contacted his boss many times, and she is also the director of human resources in the area, and she finally told me I will be fired if I continue to complain. I was not hired by this man, when the manager that accepted my transfer quit, this man replaced him. When I transferred I had a lot of vacation and sick hours that I should be reimbursed for but have not been.

Who can I contact to help me with this? I have documented everything that happened and I really feel I was forced to quit. I finally quit when I confronted him with the fact that he wouldn't put the withdrawal paperwork through for my health insurance, that's when he threatened to beat me up when I told him I would pursue my legal rights in this. What can I do? I've worked in the mid-west almost my whole life and I come out to VA and I've never experienced anything like this... I just can't believe it.

Please clarify. You enrolled in the group health insurance but your boss denied benefits? I don't understand that. Are you saying that he refused to accept your application?

Contact the VA Labor Law office that applies to you and explain the situation. DOLI - What We Do

I would also consult an attorney that works on contingency.

Thanks guys. I enrolled during open enrollment but for 2 months I noticed no money was being taken out of my check for my insurance. When I asked the insurance company about it I was told that nobody had authorized the money to be taken out of my check. They said I had to talk to my boss and there was nothing they could do. When I asked my boss about it 3 times he said he would fix it but never did. Finally he said he doesn't do favors for white trash. When I asked for my reimbursement for my vacation hours I was told I would receive a check but never did and all my attempts to find out why have been ignored. I would contact a lawyer but I don't have very much money... but these links should help get me started.
