Massplumber:
That's an easy one: lick = leak. Understand? Now you can answer the question. Took me about 30 s to figure that one out.
Here is one for ya: "What's a "plug point"?

Ok I agree his lick is a leak, he needs to give more onfo about thelick. When does it happen and what has he already tried to unclog the tub. Plunging isn't much of an option unless you can seal the overflow with a damp towel. What else if anything is not draining properly, just the tub? If so you have two issues, a clog and a lick.

I thought so too... still think it's going to get a lot of attention!
RICNAJERA:
Possible that your tub waste and overflow assembly (see pic. Below) is leaking..? Is there an access panel behind the tub by chance?
Let us know...
PS: KISS....no rules in Massachusetts that govern door heights!! Keep me posted! And plug point refers too...???

KISS, depends on what topic you are discussion. To me a plug point is the spot where the spark plug arcs.

Now that I understand the question, I'm wondering if it is the trap on the tub. Or where the drain attaches to the tub, it needs more plumbers putty. If it is flowing and not building up in the drain line under normal circumstances, then it would not be leaking. But, when the line is clogged, the water builds up in the pipe which could cause the leak to show up.
You would have to remove the inspection cover to get to the trap on the tub, or make one if you don't have one.

A "plug point" is a place to put a plug. i.e. an electrical outlet.
That one was tough. I didn't know the topic either at he time. This guy wanted a "plug point".

Most likely the upper joint on the drain assembly isn't tightened down completely. If you can't figure it out on your own, please get a plumber. Believe me, you can cause yourself more grief than you would think if you don't do this correctly.

Do you have an inspection door in the next room so you can get at the pipes? How about below this bath , is it open to the basement. Sounds like you have a clog right at or after the trap. Stop with the chemicals and do a slow flushing to get them away from where we will work. Remove the overflow plate and slide a 1/4" rod/snake down this over flow vent. This should reach you trap in about 2'. Try roding and come back to us. You'll still have a leak but it may stay dry once we get rid of the clog. Tell me about the inspection door.

Bathtub Lick is covered in Chapter V1 of " The Plumbers Kama Sutra". To read up on "69 Positions in a Shower " go to Chapter X. Or you can pick up our new book. "Fun and Frolic in the Bathroom" Cheers, Tom
