    Child Support
I was browsing the internet when I came across this site. I am not sure if I am doing this Right but Here goes. I got my married in 1997 in the State of TN. We then moved to MI. We came on hard times and her family said we should move to MN. They could help me get a good job and take care of my family. So we moved to MN in October of 2002. We weren't there a month before my ex-wife told me she didn't love me anymore. Kind of hard to swallow after moving away from everyone and everything I had ever known. But I asked to go to counseling with me she insisted that I start and she would come later. I went a few times and finally the counselor told me that if she didn't come the next time there was no hope for the marriage. Once again she came up with another excuse to not go. After Valentines Day the next week to be exact. I came home (her parents house) to find a note on my pillow, a dear john letter with her wedding ring wrapped inside. The letter told me the relationship was over and I had till Friday to find somewhere else to stay. I was no longer welcome in there home. This is after I had given her parents my entire paycheck to help with the bills for us staying there. I asked for some money back so I could find a place to stay they refused. So I left the residence not knowing where I was going to end up. Two weeks later I got paid again and went to a fathers rights lawyer. She told me since I had left the house MN law is that I abandoned my child. A month goes by and I have no where to stay without imposing on my boss. I went home to MI. I got to see my son once more after that. My son and I have the same birthday. I went to visit in October of 2003. That was the last time I saw my son. After that I maybe got a phone call or two a year. About two and a half years ago everything stopped. No one answers when I call. My mother has tried to call to speak with her only grandchild and leaves messages weekly. They won't even return her phone calls. I am required by court to $700 a month in child support. And they keep raising it on me. I have since moved to TN again. I don't even make $10 dollars an hour. That's more than half of my gross income. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am trying my best but I can't even afford my bills anymore what do I do?

Child support is generally taken as a percentage, based on your income. I have no law experience. The court needs to re-assess the child support required.

Your child support can't be raised with out a court date. Did you go to any of the court dates? You need to go back to court in which ever state has jurisdiction (the one that ordered the support) and ask for a modification. You will have to bring in proof of income such as pay stubs and tax returns. Child support is based off your income not just a random number they throw out there.
