Running wiring & create outdoor outlet
I have moved to an 18 acre farm and have learned to do a lot out of necessity but need some advice on this deal. There is an outlet on the back deck which is the only outdoor outlet. I have a small pond I made of a stock tank about 25 feet from the deck and want to put a GFC outlet on a post by the pond so I can quit using an extension cord.

I have the box and the items including wiring but wonder how to exactly hook it up to the outlet and how deep do I have to place the wiring? Please give me the basics on performing this task.

Wire should be 25in. Deep. Hook the wires to the line side of gfi markered on the back of the outlet black to gold white to silver bare or green to green screw.use uf type wire I would sleave it through pvc pipe from ground to box and use in use cover.

This wiring can be 18" deep. If it is GFI protected and not more than a 20A circuit, before it goes underground, it can be 12"

'Strange' (to me) outdoor GFI outlet [ 1 Answers ]

I have outdoor halogens controlled by a transformer, which is then plugged into an outdoor receptacle that must be a GFI, but without an apparent reset. It has two small (1/4" diameter each) round dials that are green and red. They look like they are supposed to be turned and not pushed in to...
