    P-Traps used with washer boxes
My house was built on a slab, there is a 2" PVC drain coming out of the concrete for my washing machine drain. There is no p-trap and it is the end of the sewer line. I am installing a cleanout as well as venting out the roof. My Question is am I required or should I install a p-trap.

Yes! You must install traps on every fixture that has a drain.(see image) If you don't you open your house up to the city sewer which will allow sewer gas to enter your home. Good luck, Tom

I don't think it would include toilets as the trap is in the toilet itself

Tom, if you hadn't educated me on vents and traps, I might never notice a bunch of stuff. Recently I spent 2 days in the basement of the dog guide school kennel in a training session. Largely unfinished, likely never intended to have 75 dogs and their people there all day for training. At one...

Hello, I have moved my washer and dryer and added a sink for a 1/2 bath in that spot. The washer had an existing trap in the wall. It would be a real pain to cut it out because it is galvanized pipe and because of were the trap is located. Would it be OK to leave the existing trap in the...
