My daughter is 10 years old and her father has not seen her in 7 years he has agreed to give up his rights but I don't know what forms I need,how much I cost to file or how long it takes I have never been trough court for anything I don't know anything about law I live in Florida

You have to have a lawyer. They are required for all adoptions. You don't need to worry about what forms to file or anything like that you just get the lawyer and they will do it for you it should be pretty easy since the bio dad is willing to allow it.

You need to file papers in probate court. If the father is willing to give up his rights it is pretty simple to do. It is called a family matter, depending on what courts you have there. And as long as the father to be is all set to take responsibility of the child unitl she is 18 and signs the paper work for that then it is pretty easy. That means that he has to pay child support until that child is of age . Even if the 2 of you don't make it that long my hopes is that u will good luck .

The type of court will depend on where you are. In some places its probate, others its call family court. But you really should have an attorney prepare the paperwork and they will know where to file it.

He wants to give up custody but I would also like my husband to adopt her he's the one who raised her for the last 7 years

One of those days - I thought for a second there that you had psychic abilities and now I'm disappointed.

I am your daughter so to speak, I had not seen my dads at at since the age of 5 (now 21) when my mum re married, I was then adopted by my step dad.

It cost a lot and took over a year but went through, firstly we applied through our solicitor (I was 15 at the time), I had to speak to a social worker and explain that this is what I wanted. They suggested I wrote a letter to my birth father and explain I wanted to be adopted which I did. Once he received my letter and adoption forms, he had a chace to reply, he then told the solicier if that is what I wanted then it was to all go ahead, around 6 0r 7 months later, we went to a court hearing. My biologcal father did not attned but as he had signed the form, the judge accepted and I was given a new birth certificate.

It cost around 2000 pounds but very worth it, as 2 days before my 16th I had an emergency operation, my mum was 2 hours away from hospital but I needed someone to sign medical consent there and then, thankfully as I was adopted my dad came and pretty much saved my life.

It has also completed me. Everyone assums because I never saw my real dad I would not iss him, but I did I always felt something was missing and the adoption made me feel whole
