    New Monitor settings
Hi, just picked up a new Samsung 20 inch lcd monitor. My question is, everything is stretched to fit the screen and looks funny, but, when I change the setting to normal, I have a black box around, and the whole screen doesn't get used... IS this the way these widescreens work? Or am I missing something?

Your monitor came with a disk, I'm sure something on there needs to be updated.

When I put my 19" widescreen on my computer, all the resolutions available were standard box-screen... thought I was toast. I checked the video card (Device Manager) and manually updated the video driver right from the manufacturer's website, and voilą... 2 widescreen resolutions were added in.

So, update on the manufacturer's website for your video card, and use the disk that came with your monitor, just to be sure.

This seems basic but make sure you select a widescreen screen resolution.
