    could you please help me...

I have a wired router = SmartAX MT882 connected to my desktop.

Do I need to buy a wireless router also or is there anything else that I can do because my HP laptop is not able to connect to the inernet.

I know its confusing... but can you help

You might be able to with internet connction sharing if your OS supports it. Research that topic.

Buying a wireless router and/or getting a wireless access point or a router that can be configured as one would also work.

Your best bet is buying the wireless router. You might be able to establish an adhoc network between two wireless NICs, but its not that easy. See if you can return the adapter you bought and exchange it for a wireless router. Almost all wireless routers have a built in switch so you can connect both wired and wireless devices.
