That and respect and sharing, maybe a little understanding along the way. And of course there is intimacy involved as well.

Love is different to different people. Good marriages are not always happy marriages 100% of the time. There are times when you'll downright hate your partner, but you get through the bumpy roads and be stronger because of it. Marriage is hard work, love is just a perk :P

Marriage is about love, respect, honesty, trust, communication, compromise, sharing, dreams, hope, faith, and friendship.

So no... it's not ALL about love.

Marriage is a lot of things as listed above. In fact, in its history having love be a factor at all is the new kid on the block. Love is the frosting on the wedding cake that makes the marriage that much sweeter. :)

    Marriage, a History
Long ago, love was a silly reason for a match. How marriage has changed over history.

Through most of Western civilization, marriage has been more a matter of money, power and survival than of delicate sentiments. In medieval Europe, everyone from the lord of the manor to the village locals had a say in deciding who should wed. Love was considered an absurdly flimsy reason for a match. Even during the Enlightenment and Victorian eras, adultery and friendship were often more passionate than marriage. These days, we marry for love—and are rewarded with a blistering divorce rate.

Based on research from Marriage, a History: From Obedience to Intimacy, or How Love Conquered Marriage, by Stephanie Coontz.

It's not all about love, but love certainly helps. :)

No its about giving and taking and fairness, and gettting and giving respect as its deserved, not lying down and taking rubbish, give it all and exspect all.
