Gnats/ fruit flies?
This year I have seem quite a few Gnats/ Fruit flies? ( I am not sure what they are called.)
They look like baby flies and they are in my kitchen, around my kitchen sink . I have lived here 25 years and have never seen anything like this.
Some one told me they are coming from my kitchen drains and to pour a little bleach into them. OK I did that but I still have these little pests. I went on line and read to put a funnel into a little vinegar and when they went to drink, they would die. They didn't die or at least I didn't see any decrease in them.
There is nothing setting out that could draw them into my house.
They are becoming embarrassing.
Thanks for any advice that anyone can give me.

Hi again Isabelle!
How to Get Rid of Fruit Flies
I leave a banana open on the counter and within a few minutes, they are there. I leave a wet wash cloth, they come. Get rid of the sponges, clean out the sink, and dry it. It may be they just want a drink;)

Fruit flies are annoying and multiply like crazy.
The best way to get rid of them is with beer or red wine, yup, you heard right. Put some beer in a glass, cover the glass with seran wrap, poke a hole in the wrap and voilą. The fruit flies will go in, go to drink the beer and drown.
Red wine works well too. Put enough red wine in a bowl to cover the bottom of the bowl, put your finger on the wine (this breaks the surface tension, if you don't do this the flies will just float on top) cover with seran, poke a hole, same thing with the beer. The flies love the smell of red wine, they will fly in through the hole land on the wine to drink, and then drown.
I had a house full of fruit flies last year, I used the beer and wine method (the wine works better) and was completely rid of these little pests within a few days.
Good luck.

Use the red wine. It is kind of like, "you build it, they will come" I promise they will go to the red wine and never want anything else.

Exactly right, red wine works every time. Just remember to break the surface tension, just a touch with your finger and it's a done deal. :)

MMMMMM.. I will have to go to the store and see what the cheapest wine is. As I said I will try anything. I hope they like the cheap wine and are not discerning little guests. Thanks a lot guys.

They aren't at all particular about their wine, but red is a must, the white doesn't work for some reason.

I made some fruit juice juice and beer traps and today the flies are way decreased. Now I know how to get rid of these unwanted guests. They stayed right around my sink.
Thanks so much for saving my sanity.
