    multiple column matching using vlookup
I have 2 spreadsheets. I want to exactly match from 1st column (having activity code)and 2nd column (having names) of 1st spreadsheet with corresponding columns of second spreadsheet and transfer value in a column of 1st spreadsheet from corresponding row in second spreadsheet. I tried to use vlookup but not getting proper result as 1st column has some activity code against which there are multiple names in 2nd column and also some names has more than one activity code attached.

    Please give reply immediately.

Immediately, huh? Free advice comes when it comes, OK, friend?

Now, post a sample spreadsheet here with 4 faked entries so we can see what you're trying to do. On one sheet put your sample data, on the second an example of what you want to appear. This way we can SEE it, your description isn't clear enough.

Post the example without formulas, just type into the cells what is meant to appear. I will try to find formulas for the second sheet to fill itself out. Vlookup might be the answer, we'll see.

No answer yet? Hehe, not so immediate, eh?

Anyway, I suspect the answer I gave another post may hold your answer as well, and it used the SUMPRODUCT method:
