Does He have any rights to our unborn baby?
I'm 19 years old, and I'm 20 weeks pregnant. The father and I aren't married, and we never were. He left when I was eight weeks pregnant, so for three months my parents have been helping me out, buying baby equipment and clothes and generally helping me through the 'sickness' period. Now the father has come back and is wanting ultrasounds and 3D pictures of my baby, but I don't think I should give them to him. While we were together he was violent, and he has a short temper, so I'm wary about letting him into the babies life. He has already told me he WON'T pay child support and he WON'T buy anything the baby needs, so does he have rights of access to see the baby at all? I live in NSW, and my parents are the only ones supporting me and my baby, while the father hasn't even made attempt to support his unborn baby. Can anyone give me a little bit of advice, as I'm completely spun out, and very worried he will get custody of my baby.

He is the father, he has rights to see his child. If you think he is unfit, take him to court. In fact, take him to court anyway, because its his responsibility to support his child to the best of his abilities. Get court-ordered child support.

The only way you'll lose rights to your child if you're consider an unfit mother. He can tell you that he won't pay child support all he want but if he's proven to be the child father and a judge grant the child support order there's nothing he could do but pay voluntarily or get his wages garnish, jail time, driver lincese suspensed, etc. Also, as mention already, the father has rights to see his child and this can be placed in the order. Even though your pregnant you can still contact your local family court to find out the guidelines and they can answer any further questions you have.
