Need 2nd opinion, GE Fridge, freezer not working at all
I had a repair tech come look at my GE side by side. This unit sat in storage 8 months & now does not freeze nor cool the other side (the fan & compressor both run, there are no lint issues, this unit is only 3-4 yrs old). The tech test the compressor & found that it was only pulling a .4 load. He said on start up it should be 1.3 or 1.4 or somewhere in that range. He also said he did not see any "oil" leaking anywhere in the back. So his diagnosis is there is a refrigerant leak in the casing of the unit & with that being the case is not repairable & should be thrown out. He said the worst thing you can do to a fridge is to store it because things begin to rust. This unit is only 3-4 yrs old, & its tough believing that something so exspensive is engineered in such a way that 8 months of storage can damage a unit beyond reasonable repair. Any second opinions?

Call a different tech to come look at the fridge and see if they have the same or different diagnosis. With a new machine like that I am surprised at the first guy's opinion. Try a tech who specializes in GE's. He may have a completely different scenerio for you.

Hi everyone! I have a slightly over a year old Amana bottom-freezer refrigerator (model #: ABR1922FES). Yesterday, I noticed that the fridge wasn't as cold as it should be, so I turned the temp control cooler, and then, as per the owner's manual, waited 24 hours for it to kick in. It didn't....
