Oh my gosh...
As some of you know, I just had a baby in April, and he will be a month old in 4 days. Well, I started having sex again a few days ago (a bit early maybe haha but oh well  ). Anyway my husband and I are not using protection, and I never really thought about it, because I figured I am breastfeeding and don't think I have ovulated yet. But then this morning I was talking to my sister-in-law, who has 2 kids who are 10 months apart in age... and DUH I realized she got pregnant VERY soon after giving birth!
So... errumm... what are the chances of me getting pregnant right now? Is it worth it for us to use protection right now? Thanks.

Yes, Use protection right now. Even though breast feeding may delay ovulation there is not a gauarantee and it is known that women can get pregnant a lot easier after having a baby.

I would say yes. My wife got pregnant 9 months after. We even used protection. My two sons are 18 months apart. She decided to stop breast feeding after 11 months because of it.
Your brave having sex only a few weeks after. :o
Lucky for Alex :D
My wife had to wait at least 8 weeks
Wow, 1 month old. Time does fly by, huh?

I would start using protection dear... lol... chances are pretty high that you can just look at your hubby and get preggy again. It's most likely the hormones from your pregnancy that aren't out of your system yet, though that's speculation. Just to be safe use protection of some kind... I would not recommend the depo shot though.

LOL well not to get too graphic, but some positions are still not possible, but others are fine. :) Plus I had a c section rather than a vaginal birth, and the incision is healing really well.
And yeah I can't believe he's a month old already... he's hugely bigger than when he was born, too! I think he grows every single day!

Thanks Myth. Yeah I won't use the depo shot. I used to work at an STD clinic and I saw what that shot did to women... yuck. And the Pill is notorious for giving me migraines, so I guess we'll just have to use condoms for now.

I would give you two thumbs up for trying if the site had an option :D
My wife's midwife wanted her to use... oh I can't remember the name, it looks like a T and gets inserted. I believe it is another method for abortion but that is my opinion. I don't like my wife being on the pill because she forgot to take it twice in one cycle and it made her get her period twice. That opened my eyes that it screws up a women's body too much.
Just so anyone knows I am not judging a woman for using it, it's just a opinion.
I don't think I heard of the depo shot. Maybe I have just don't remember.

I think you mean the IUD (interuterine device), jduke. It prevents the egg from latching on to the uterus, so yeah if you are pro-life I can see where it would be considered a form of abortion. I'm not anxious to use it because my biological mother had one years ago and it gave her severe PID and she almost died. Of course I know that the technology is a lot better now than then, but the memory of my mom being so ill still turns me off.
The depo shot is kind of like the Pill I believe. It's a shot of hormones. It can make you very nauseated and a friend of mine gained a tremendous amount of weight on it. I would actually prefer to use nothing, because I don't like what birth control does to my body, but I also don't want to get pregnant again just yet. The Serena method and the old rhythm method are not that accurate unfortunately, haha. I think they're better for getting pregnant rather than preventing pregnancy.

Close enough together and they will be play mates, may even get to be in the same grade at school. And if the same sex you will have the hand me downs.
Yep, talk to your doctor about what birth control is safe.

Condoms are what I use... I gain with any type of hormone be it depo or pills. Usually around 50lbs if not more... it's not healthy for my body. Depo made me gain 75lbs and really killed myself esteem there for a long time. I only recommend hormones in cases where it will actually help... like an irregular period. I wouldn't use the patch either they say it can cause blood clots... hey when your stocking up don't forget spermicide... lol

That's it -- IUD. Can never remember it. I do remember hearing about the depo shot.

Hi Chava, pregnancy is definitely possible because you never know when you are going to ovulate. It looks like you've figured that out though. Good luck and enjoy your family (and your husband-LOL).:p

Pregnancy is DEF a big possibility. My brothers wife got pregnant the first month they were allowed to start having sex again. SO, unless you want irish twins (thats what they call them right?)then I would get some condoms and spermicide HAHAH. Best of luck to you! So happy to hear you and the little guy are doing so well! Keep us posted!

Hey I used the patch for awhile, and it gave me MAJOR headaches like almost everyday! And since Ive been off the patch, I only get headaches from work LOL... and as of right now I am not on any BC... I agree with a lot of you about the pill... that is one reason why I didn't want it... because I didn't want to gain a lot of weight... and I don't think the depo shot is very good because it stops your period.. and I was told that is good to have your period... since it flushes out your body!. But I hope everything turns out great for you... and enjoy your baby while he is young!!

Yeah the patch is gross. I've never used it, but several friends have, and none of them recommend it.

They did a story on the local news about the patch and women getting serious blood clots. There has also been this public service announcement telling women to contact their dr's if they are using the patch. I don't like depo cause it puts your body in a post menopausal state. Meaning you don't ovulate, most women don't get their periods at all, but I actually shrunk an inch while I was on it and I gained 70 plus lbs... there are other side effects to it but I can't remember them now. I don't advise anyone to get on either of these bc's. They haven't been around long enough to have everything known about them. From what I've personally been through and from the women that I have talked to that have used them I don't recommend them at all. They seem more harmful that helpful... I recommend good ol condoms.

yeah I agree with the previous posts... I had a friend whose parents had kids one right after the other... 12 kids in 15 years. They of course didn't use birth control, but still... goes to show that even when nursing it can and does happen.
and remember... even birth control isn't 100%. My naughty kid is a testament to that.
oh well... we always have the attitude that we'll welcome anyone who shows up.
by the way... I'm so glad you are not pregnant. And not have the little one in your arms. Isn't it just amazing? And it keeps getting maddiningly better. =)
