    Legal Documents info.
Hello everyone. I have a question about legal documents. My husband is about to get re-involved in a custoday battle with his daughter's mother. He needs to file a motion for contempt but, in his parenting plan it states he needs to go to mediation before he can file any motions. Now, he already knows that mediation is not going to help because his ex is not going to willingly give up primary custody. Any way, back to the subject. I would like to know if anyone out there knows anything about getting a lawyer ONLY for legal paper work purposes. He does not want a lawyer to represent him, he only wants help with legal documents. He just wants to make sure that he is properly filling out and filing these documents( to cover his butt so he is not held in contempt) Who would he contact? Would he need to contact a Paralegal? some type of legal council?

Thank you for all your help.:D

    Hello D:

He can hire an attorney to do just that limited stuff, and I would. Might cost him an hour of legal time - maybe $150. But, the judge isn't going to find him in contempt unless he's contemptuous. Having an I not dotted or t not crossed, or even a few misspellings here and there ISN'T contemptuous, and he shouldn't worry.

It's his intent that counts. Family court is user friendly.

I will be blunt, if he wants to have any real chance of winning, he needs an attorney. Esp if she gets or has an attorney. Not sure whose family court is user friendly, none of the ones I have ever been in were.
