My mother is a single mother of 5 grandmother to 2 with a green card that expired in 1990. Is there anything me or my siblings can do to change her legal status?

Could you provide more info?
Did she has a green card but expired? How did she obtained it?
If she obtained it through marriage with US citizen, how long she'd been married, etc.
What's the date the card was issue and when did it expired? Etc.

Yes she has a green card but is expired 4/20/1990 and was issued 9/23/1987. It was obtained with the a law that was active in those day I am not sure what the name of it was.

You did not give enough info...
How did she get it? Was she married at that time?
Was her husband a US citizen? Were they legally married? etc.

Sorry... I can't jump to conclusion with this.
Please provide all details, or simply consult immigration attorney near you.

That fine. She's never been married however she did live with my father for many years. The law was something like the amnesty law or something like that I really am not sure neither is she because my father took her she says that they went to a place called catholic services she still has their number an address but every time I go or call they don't have time or simply don't know what I have to do to get an appointment and I've also talked to a couple of lawyers that either can help or need an outrageous amount of money that we just don't have so I greatly appreciate your help

Something still unclear in your info.. If she obtained permanent resident status through amnesty law, then her green card should have been valid for 10 years not 3 years. I believe there are more info that missing here. You need to get original copy of all her documents and start from there... lawyer fees should not be that outrageous if you have all the original documents.
