    Boot Up Issue
Every time I turn on my computer it stops and forces me to hit the F1 key to continue. Does anyone know how to bypass this step in the bootup. It is a windows xp system.

Is there any other message on screen besides hit the F1 key to continue?

something in BIOS would be causing this

any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any software or hardware that you installed or setup.

Boot into BIOS and reset default values and save changes and let it restart

Is the computer more than 3 years old? There is a possibility the CMOS battery in the computer has died prematurely. It is required for your computer to remember anything about its own configuration once it is powered off each time.

The CMOS battery is like a watch battery and VERY easy to change. They cost about $2, so this is an easy/cheap thing to try yourself.

Visit your local computer shop and buy one (some drug stores now sell them over the counter like watch batteries), it's the one about the size of a quarter.

Power off and unplug your computer, open the case, ground yourself, then using a paperclip, pop out the one on the motherboard, slip the new one in its place. Close the case and power up.

Reboot 3 times. See if that doesn't clear it up.
