Trying to conceive - Help, Please!!
Hi everyone! I am new to all this so bare with me. Here is my problem/concern:
My husband and I have been Trying to conceive for a year. I have very irregular periods (maybe once every 3 months). My doc told me not to be concerned unless I have less than 4 periods a year. I don't get that, but oh well. I do the BBT charting thing, I do the CM thing and still nothing. I have never had any spotting or anything until the 21st of this month (5/21). I thought I was getting my AF, but it lasted about a day and was very light and brown. My BBT is still high and has been for 9 or 10 days. It is usually around 97.3 and it is still up there around 97.9-98.1. I read up on implantation bleeding and it seems that it could be that. BUT, I took a HPT two days after the "bleeding" and it came out negative. Could I be testing too soon? How much longer should I wait to take another test? I have a doctor's appointment on June 2nd. Should I wait until then? I'd appreciate the help. Thanks! :)

Hey hun, I have been trying to conceive for 11 months now too. I have a friend who has very irregular periods (every couple of months) just like you, and she has a 5 year old daughter now. SO it is possible. To me it sounds like it could very well be implantation bleeding. I would call your doctor, tell hiom about the spotting and the raised temp readings and ask about getting a blood test done. ( he may want you to wait till you go in in June?)I would also take some prenatals in the mean time(atleast some folic acid) Always a good idea to be prepared, even if it turns out you didn't need to be. I hope that all turns out well, and that you get happy news. If you ever need to talk, or have any questions feel free to ask, I try to help in anyway I can(tho I am by no means an expert ;0) sometimes it is just nice to be able to talk to people in the same situations, and get much needed support. Got my fingers crossed for you, and let us know what happens!

Thank you for responding so quickly. I know it's possible for me to get pregnant because I was pregnant 4 and a half years ago, but I lost it. I didn't have any "implantation bleeding" with that pregnancy though. So, that makes me wonder if this time I could have it. I'm hoping it is! But like I said I have never had spotting like this before... ever. My periods have always been light, heavy, light and it lasts like 5 days. I go to the doctor a week from this Friday, but the funny thing is, I made the appointment for infertility. Hopefully, I won't have to do anything for that! The anticipation is killing me. I want a BFP - hense the username. :) I have been taking prenatal vitamins for almost a month now. A friend told me to take them while Trying to conceive. I wish you luck too. I'll keep you posted and you do the same. Thanks!

Thanks! We all need any luck we can get. WEll, hopefully you go and find out that you are pregnant, wouldn't that be a wonderful surprise! That is how my periods are too, but mine usually last 7 days, and I get them monthly now(finally after a year of inconsistancy from depo) well, I wish you the best of luck, and feel free to write anytime! Let me know how it goes!

I hope so, but I really don't like to get my hopes up and then get let down. Just like when I took the HPT the other day I was shaking because I thought it might be + for once. I had to leave the bathroom. But nope, I got let down again. I wish my "monthly" was actually MONTHLY! It's never been that way. The only time it was regular was when I was on the pill for 3 1/2 years. I got off it a year ago to start Trying to conceive and it's worse than it was before. Oh well, everyone tells me to stop trying and it will happen, but that's so hard to do when everyone around me is getting pregnant or already pregnant. I found out 4 people I work with are pregnant within like the last month. It's ridiculous. And I live on a military post where EVERYONE is pregnant! I guess my time will come. Thanks for listening to me ramble on. :) How was the depo anyway?

Depo is terrible, I wouldn't suggest anyone who is wanting to ever get pregnant tries it. I know what you mean. Seems like I can't leave my apartment without seeing TONS of preggies everywhere I turn. Seems like everyone around you is getting pregnant, and you aren't. But, I get comfort from knowing that God has a timing for everything, and He knows the path that my life will take better then I, so perhaps there are bumps in the path ahead of me that I just can't see, that would be weathered best before I get pregnant. Who knows. But the waiting also makes the day you get a plus that much more meaningful, and your love that much deeper for them. Its very hard to listen to the " just relax............stop trying and it will happen,,,,,,,,,,,stop thinking about it" advice always given by people. I know what you mean. Maks you want to say something mean. HAHAH. I don't mind listening to the rambling, it is similar to my own. ;0)

I was curious. I never want to be on birth control ever again. I hated it. My mom's sister and my dad's sister both had breast cancer and were both on birth control when they were my age. Kind of freaks me out. I also heard it makes you gain weight. I gained weight on the pill so it wouldn't make any difference to me. When I was pregnant before it was with my husband. We weren't married then, but I also know that we are meant to have children together it wasn't the right time. Obviously we're meant to if we're married, right. ;) I agree that it is hard to listen to everyone tell you to relax. It gets old. Well, I'm thinking of taking another HPT soon. I am not going to get my hopes up again though. Well, you can ramble to me too. I will listen and respond. Thanks again...

Yeah I think I am going to stick to condoms/spermicide from now on myself. Those hormones just mess with you way too much. I might consider mircette again, that was a pretty good pill from what I oculd tell, but I think I am going to try to keep everything normal with my body. It has gone through a lot this past year and a half. Hah. You will get pregnant soon I am sure of it. Things will look up. Sometimes I think God just needs to know how badly we want something. Or more likely needs to show us how badly we do want it, so we don't take it for granted later.. Because if its not worth fighting for then its not nescisarily something we will hold as dear to us as it deserves to be. I am so grateful that I have my son, and trying so hard for a nother makes me even that much more grateful, because I never realized it would be so hard to conceive again. I conceived my son 2 weeks after I married my husband, so it really never occurred to me that it would be harder down the road. Makes you really appreciate the delicated balances in life, and your body. My AOL is amybugaboobabe if you ever want to say hi and keep in touch. Its nice ot be able to talk to people who are going through the same things. I also have Yahoo and msn. Amykfcook.

Yeah, those hormones do mess with you. I hope I get pregnant soon. I took the HTP test today - no luck. I'm bumming pretty bad. I am going to my health clinic tomorrow to request a blood test. I know that will show sooner. These symptoms could always be PMS, but obviously I'm hoping they're not. It seems so weird to me. I could be wanting it so badly that the I over exaggerate the symptoms and make myself think I am pregnant. :( Oh, I didn't know you had a son. How old is he? You are so lucky to at least have one...

Hi hoping.. I think you partly could have come up with the answer yourself - "wanting it so badly".. But your history of losing a baby in the past - makes me strongly recommend you see your doctor as soon as possible, get a good exam, and let him give you the 'go-ahead'. He can also tell if there is no residual scar tissue in the way, or help you keep this one - if you are pregnant. At any rate, you really need some reassurance to relieve yourself of further stress.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

It could be "wantly it so badly", but did you read my first post? Wondering if you think it could have been IB? That happened on the 21st and still no AF. My last MP was March 12th, which isn't out of the ordinary for me (unfortunately). The spotting was the thing that was out of the ordinary. I have still be charting my temp and it's still up there. I don't know. I am confused. I go to the doctor a week from today and hopefully I can get everything taken care of. Do you know the signs of a tubal pregnancy? Does a tubal pregnancy not show on a urine test, but will it show on a blood test? That's what I've heard, but I don't know for sure. Do you know if there is anything that a doctor can prescribe someone to take to regulate their MP and stimulate ovulation? I've heard that too. Obviously I don't want to take BC to regulate. Is there anything else? Thanks for your help. :)

Check the above site - The Mayo Clinic is world-known and can be relied on.

If you do have an ectopic pregnancy - you'll be made aware of this very soon, and probably will need to see a doctor before your appointment.

Hope this is not the case, and that all is well,

Thank you - that was very informative. I guess after reading that I don't really want to take meds to stimulate ovulation because it can cause a tubal pregnancy. I don't have any pain like that. I just had the spotting for a day. Well, thanks for the help. I'll keep you updated. :)

Yes, I have a son. He will be 2 in sept. I had him when like aweek after my 20th birthday. He is a life saver to us. Yes, we are so blessed to have him, and if it turns out we are never able to conceive another, we will still feel blessed to have our little angel. I think that is partially why I am so upset about how long it is taking me to get pregnant. We started tryinga month before his 1st birthday, and here we are today still trying. And I got pregnant so easy the first time. But I know there is a reason for the waiting. Just don't know what it is, and have to have faith in the One who knows the paths of my life better then I. Gettign ablood test will definitely help, because then you will know for sure, and not have to second guess anymore. I know how what you mean about tricking yourself into thinking you are pregnant. I did that for the first 8+ months of us trying. Broke myheart every month when I took and hpt and it was negative and got my period the very next day. Since then I have relaxing a little, and take it as it comes. I am still disappointed when I get my period, but I also know that there is hope that it will happen the next month. I hope you get a happy answer this time, but if you don't, I am here to talk to, and there are a lot of other amazing people on this site that love to help as well. We all need support in our lives. I think I am at ovulation right now, keep your fingers crossed for me. We'll see what happens. Keep me posted. Let me know what happens with the blood test.

Aww how sweet. Mine would have been 4 this coming July. You are so lucky. I know my time will come and your time will come for your second. I'm trying to be patient and let fate take its course. Good luck with your ovulation. My fingers are crossed. I will keep you posted on the blood test. Take it easy. :)

Well, things aren't looking too good for me right now. I had like a spot of blood yesterday and then nothing. And, my temp dropped this morning and I am crampy. So, I think AF is coming for a visit. I think I have to wait another few months to try again :'(

Things aren't looking so good for me either. This morning I had some bleeding. Just enough to go home from church and change. Totally annoying. Haven't had anything sense then. But I am sure its aunt flo coming. Weird thing is, it has only been 2 1/2 weeks since my period. I was getting so normal and on schedule, and then all of a sudden this. I have no idea why. I am not under any stress, not sick, haven't done anything different as far as exercise or anything.and I didn't have any pms symptoms either. I usually get crampy and moody, and my boobs are sore, but nothing this time. It's very odd. Oh well. Guess it just goes to show you that you can't take regualr for granted. Haha. Guess I am not as regular as I thought.

Oh man. Yep, AF definitely came to visit. I hate the fact that I have to wait like 2-3 months to try and wait that long to find out if I've failed or succeeded. I was moody and my husband could tell so I knew it was coming. This is so annoying!! Sorry it didn't work out this time for you either. At least you will be able to try again soon. Good luck! :)
