I am 11 years old, and im the only one i know whos not dating. I asked my parents if i could. But only after i turned down dates from the 4 cutest boys in school. Of course my dad went beserk, but it was a first for my mom. She made me go to my room and stay there until i stopped thinking " crazy things" Theres a dance coming up and lots of boys have asked me. But of course, im dateless. How can i convince my folks to let me date?

It's one thing to "date" and another thing to go to do the dance with someone. You're 11... so a bit too young to be dating. However, I'm sure that if you asked your parents nicely that you want to go to the dance with a boy and not DATE, then maybe they'll be more willing.

Or even go to the dance and the boy just happens to be there then it is not like you went out with him but he was one of the boys at the dance.
When you say date your parents are having all the negative impressions that go along with the word. At your age you are better off hanging out, going to the dance with a group of girls but 11 years old/date just don't go together.

Also think of it this way, all the 11 year olds that are 'dating' now most likely will not be together when you are 15/16/17 years old. Then these cute boys, what are they more likely to think?
A. I want to go back out with my 5th grade boyfriend?
B. I want to get to know that girl?

In some rare cases they might want to get back together but in most cases they are ready to move on to new relationships.

When I was your age, even when my daughters were your age I never heard of dances for 5th graders.
