Divorce with QuitClaim Deed in place
Hi, I am about to enter the world of divorce. I had moved out on my husband in July 2004 and immediately filed for divorce... then my boss made it known that he was in love with me. I truly had no idea. (please note this is the very abbreviated version of the entire story). Then my husband kept bugging me to try to work things out. He began reading relationship books and was very emotional about our relationship. So I moved back in May of 2005. In the meantime my boss left me alone. I ended up moving back in May of 2005 to try to work things out because I thought that was the right thing to do. I am a Christian and take my vows seriously. Then in February 2008 my boss pulled me aside one day to "give me a hug". This affected me very much, brought back all the feelings and emotions I had felt when I was in my apartment. He is a very loving, giving person, but he was also married (30 years) and I didn't see him making any move to divorce his wife (which I knew he had a lot at stake), but I was not going to be the "other woman" for no man. Anyway, I made the fatal mistake of telling my husband that my boss had made a move on me (don't quite know what kind of reaction I expected, but the first words out of his mouth were... "you need to file a sexual harassment claim". I could not do that because I truly care for my boss and because it had ended up being consentual. So then I told my husband more intimate details (this was while I was still in my apartment). But no man wants to hear this and the fact that his two previous wives left him for their bosses did not help the matter any. Bottom line was he wanted me to sign a QuitClaim Deed to our 2 1/2 acres (all paid for) or he was going to shame my boss at his Bible Study and tell his family. In order to protect my boss and his family, I signed the QuitClaim Deed (back in March of this year) determined to make my marriage work having no plans to leave anyway. (what was I thinking? ). Well, here we are back to where we were when I left last night. He is arrogant, haughty, self-centered, and greedy. So now I don't know if I will be able to get anything from the divorce that I have contributed in the 16 years we have been married. I even contributed $20,000 for the sale of my home to my ex-husband that went into this house we now live in. I know this is kind of lengthy. I have hired a lawyer which I hope is a good one Travis Thompson in Houston, TX (board certified)... ever heard of him? Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether the Judge may set aside the quitclaim and bring the property back into the equation? Just curious. Thank you, lawdygurl

I highly doubt it having signed a Quit Claim Deed. If you do have a good attorney, he may be able to present a good run for it, but please don't be upset if he can't perform miracles. A legal document generally stands in court regardless of what your intent was at the time you signed it.

And to be honest, it sounds like you are leaving a husband who loved you and tried to make it work. And yes, your boss should have been brouight public for what he did, he caused most of this, and you went along with it. I hope your husband still brings to light his deeds and reports him to his wife and to his company.

And morally you do't deserve a penny. Legally you already signed it over, I doubt you can get anything.
